Houston - Day 3

The next day was Matt’s first day at the conference. In the morning we slept late – heaven! – and missed he hotels breakfast buffet. We wanted to get some groceries for the kitchen in the room, anyway, so we got dressed and headed out to find breakfast.
We settled on a donut shop – heaven, again! - then to WalMart for groceries.

We took the groceries back to the hotel, where Matt changed, and then we headed downtown. I dropped Matt off at the conference and then (after spending 15 minutes trying to find a way onto the freeway) took the kids to the Childrens Museum (after spending 15 minutes trying to find the right street – the Mapquest directions sucked!).

The Museum was wonderful. They were very well staffed, there was help everywhere! And there were tons of things for the kids to do. We spent about 3 hours there, then went back to pick up Matt.
It took me less time to find the freeway this time, but I made up for it trying to find the right street for the convention center. All of their downtown streets are one way, so I basically drove in smaller and smaller circles until I ran right into it, lol. Makes me appreciate the Utah set up! Addresses are so easy to find! Houston was so different. The number in the address didn’t seem to mean anything! Not to mention that without the mountains (or any other visible landmarks) or a compass in the car I couldn’t tell east from west unless the sun was setting, lol.

Matt came right out when we got there and I gladly gave up the drivers seat! Thank God he has a fail proof internal compass and a natural ability to get around anywhere.

We went back to the hotel and ordered pizza for dinner. After bathing the kids (the bathtub was finally clean!) we put them to bed and watched So You Think You Can Dance, then another movie – Next – which I fell asleep during.
