More Asher Birthday

Matt and I gave Asher his Birthday gift - a train table - Saturday morning, instead of Friday afternoon. It seemed like a better idea to let him have it all day, rather than just for a couple hours before bed time.

It was a hit! He really seems to love it and has spent lots of time playig with it. I think it will prove to be well worth the money :)

The track comes apart. The display at Toys r Us had the track pieces screwed into the table, but straight out of the box that is not the case. So I told Matt I wanted the pieces screwed down. He argued - this way he can re-configure, the table can be flipped over for use with legos (part of the design) etc. But I was insistent. I told him if we do't screw them down I will go crazy from hearing "Mommy! Broken!!!" 300 times a day. He finally agreed, but said he didn't have the screws to do it right now, we'll have to do it later.

This weekend - come Hell or high water - he will screw those track pieces to the table. Because my ears are about to bleed from hearing "mommy! broken!!!" 300 times a day.

It's not all about the table, of course. Several people gave him toys that come apart...and all of them are "broken", too.

His Birthday party was Sunday afternoon. We scheduled it for noon this year, instead of late afternoon, as we've done in the past. It worked out nicely, Asher woke up from his nap at about 11:45, and our first guests showed up about 20 minutes later. He got lots of toys and seemed to have a good time. For lunch we did deli meat and cheese trays, rolls, pasta salad, fruit salad, and chips. I made a banana cake with curious george on the top. Actually, Matt baked the cake, which took about an hour. I put george on, which took about 12 hours, lol. Seriously, though...it took a long time. Becki made a banana pudding dessert that was yummy, too!

Here's the cake. I know the handwriting looks like I have Parkinsons disease...

After everyone left Matt and I cleaned up and then both fell asleep on opposite couches while the kids played with Asher's new stuff. It was a nice afternoon.

Pictures!

Here Asher is opening the gift Tessa gave him on his Birthday morning (a Curious George motorboat for the bathtub and the pool) - and giving her a thank you kiss for it <3

Tessa made bracelets the other day with a kit she got for her Birthday. She wrapped one up (in toilet paper!) for Asher.

Here he is, checkig out the new train table! I took a million pictures, all in my photobucket album (link at the bottom of this post)

He LOVED having "Happy Birthday" sung to him!
