Asher update

Our little boy is getting so big!  Matt referred to him as "almost three" the other day and I nearly cried!  The sad truth is that he is almost 3, and he seems to grow up more every day.

About a month ago he finally learned all his colors - yay!  I was begining to fear he was color blind ;)

He counts like crazy - as high as 16 without missing numbers.  We're starting to work with him on counting objects, trying to tie in the sequence of numbers (which he knows only because of memorization at this point) to different items.  We count cars and blocks, but his favorite thing is to count his fingers.  He often ends up with 9 or 11...but we're getting there!
He has lots of little 'Asher-isms'
Instead of saying "all ready" he says "ready all".  As in "I ready-all turned off the tv!"
Instead of saying "What am I gonna do?" he says "gon my do?"
For a time he called everyone a naughty boy.  "YOU a naughty boy, mommy!" or "No, YOU a naughty boy, Tessa!"
He also said "I'm just a boy!" when he got in trouble for anything for a long time.
Recently he learned "It wasn't me!" from Tessa.  I'm not a fan of that one.
Along with the new Asher-isms, we're losing some of the old ones...
He's started saying room instead of norm...I miss norm...

We spend a lot of time in Tessa's classroom at school and he LOVES going there.  All the kids are friendly with him and he's always super excited to see Tess.  He thinks he's part of the class and willfind himself a desk and chair as quick as he can :)
He tells stories ALL the time.  When something exciting happens he'll tell anyone who will listen about it for WEEKS after.  His current story is this
"We have fun park! We come home, we eat pizza, we take a bath. I got scared and take a shower.  Then we watch Simpsons and I go a bed."
I love this story.  A few weeks ago we took the kids to the park on a Saturday.  We played for a few hours, then came home and fed them pizza for dinner.  In the bathtub, Asher freaked out (more on that, later) and I moved him to my shower to finish cleaning him up.  After his shower he got to watch The Simpsons before going to bed.  Apparently, that's a perfect afternoon for my boy :)
About a month ago Tessa and Asher were in the tub when Asher started to scream.  Matt and I were in our bedroom and went running.  Asher had climbed out of the tub and was screaming, absolutely terrified.
Tessa has a bath doll that she hadn't used in some time.  We'd drained it before putting it away, but some brown flakes (soap scum? bath tub algee?) came out of the doll when it got water in it again.  Asher was screaming about those flakes - calling them "fishies" - and he was completely terrified of them.
Since then, we've tried everything, but bath time is no longer the break for mom and dad that it used to be.  He's in and out - if he stays in to play eventually something scares him.

Asher is SUCH a boy.  He is rough and tumble all the time; loves to climb and run and jump. Last weekend alone I think he face planted half a dozen times.  He's always covered in bruises, but never whines too much about getting hurt (after a kiss from mommy, of course!)
He is very well behaved - plays well by himself and takes naps without complaint.  He goes to bed every night like and angel and sleeps 10+ hours without waking.
Despite wanting to stop time where it is for my little man, I do love watching him learn and grow.  He is such an amazing boy!
