4.3.08

Asher told Matt he loved him this morning when he left for work.
He's gotten to be quite the little parrot recently - he can mimic anything! But the one thing he sort of refuses to say is "I love you" or "love you, too". But this morning Matt kissed him goodbye and said "love you, little man" and Ash said "yu you" - just like Tessa did when she was a baby. We of couse made a big deal about it - if positive reinforcement actually worked with the kid he'd be saying "yu you" all day long!

He knows dozens of words, but rarely uses them. He prefers to just squeal, grunt and motion at me. I think he enjoys making me guess. I'll hold up 15 things, asking "this?" everytime. And when I finally get it right - say, a drink of water or his binky - it's almost always something that he knows how to say. So I ask "why don't you just ask for it?" and he looks at me defiantly and runs away.
The words he says with regularity - in order of how often he says it - are Tessa (Ta most of the time, Teta if he's not being lazy) Momma, uh-oh, Daddy, bye-bye, Allie, Car, Cheek and Hi.
However, he knows so many more than that! He can say Nana, Grandpa, Becki, Joey, Colby, Binky (beepee), down, up, eye, blanky, truck, no, goldfish, cheese, bottle, garbage, cookie, dog, puppy, book, Indy, school, baby, sit-down, shower, bath, shoe, boot, more, chip, water, drink, cup, tv, sissy, cereal...
and more that I can't remember right now.

Like I said - he's a wonderful mimic. If he's in the mood he'll repeat anything! On my Birthday Matt said "Can you say 'Happy Birthday' to momma?" and Ash said "Happy Birthday" very clearly. But he's like Tessa was, and he refuses to preform on comand. Most people have only heard him say one or two words.

That's okay with me. Tessa talks enough for 6 kids!

Her right front tooth is loose. I'm hoping it takes a while to come out - I'd like to take her Birthday pictures before she's got a gap. I know it will be cute, I'd just like the pictures to be done without it.
I'm going to do them myself. A friend sent me a really cute photo shoot idea that would be perfect for Tessa. I need to get going on it, but I want to do it outside and the weather still sucks. Fingers crossed that it will warm up next week.
Her teeth hurt her, so she chews on things. Most often, her clothes. The sleeves of most of her shirts and jackets have all been nawed on - some are destroyed. I try to keep an eye on her, but she does it constantly. I bought gum and let her have it when she needs it - I even give her Asher's teething rings!

She's reading so well it's unbelievable. We've been going to the library for books - she can read almost anything. Parent teacher conferences are next week - I can't wait to talk to her teacher! I see her often, of course, when I volunteer in class - but I don't talk to her about Tessa's preformance then. I'm excited to hear what she has to say - because I know it will all be good! Lucky us to have a beautiful girl who's also so smart.

That's it for today - just a little update on my babies :)

Lucas was a grunter. He pointed and grunted for everything until he was atleast 2. If not 2.5 almost.
But now, I cannot get him to stop talking. Seriously. LOL.

Sounds like Tessa is doing fantastic. Amazing isn't it? These little people they are becoming.
