Tessa's Girl Scout troop donated a tree to the Festival of Trees this year.
Everyone had an assignment - mine was gingerbread cookie ornaments, one to represent each girl :)A bunch of us moms went on Monday to set up the tree and get it decorated. We had a good time.
Our tree was nowhere near as extravagant or beautiful as many of the trees there, but it was cute and it was homemade! The best part, though, was that it came with 1,594 Girl Scout cookies! That's about 60 cases :)
At the auction on Monday night our tree sold for $750! We are very happy to have been part of such a large donation to Primary Childrens :)
Wednesday night we had a special Girl Scout activity, a mommy daughter date to the Festival!
The girls were so excited they couldn't stand still.
We planned to stay together as a group, and we started out at our tree. Here's Maisie, next to our display!!!
And here's a closeup - notice the gingerbread girls (that I made!)
Tessa and one of her friends, Serena (who also happens to be a 3rd cousin by marriage...or something similar) latched on to each other for the evening.
They walked through most of the festival with their arms around each other.
They examined EVERY tree and were SO SLOW that before long we were WAY behind the rest of the group. We ended up skipping several aisles in order to catch up!
The gingerbread houses were my favorite part. This one was massive!!! It was impossible to capture the scale, but I think it was close to 6 feet tall.
This train was soooo long! The strange doll thing on top was a tiny bit creepy.
This one was my favorite! It's the Up house!
When we were just about through we ran into Santa Clause! He stopped to give a few of the girls a hug (and photo op!) Lucky us! Within a few minutes there was a LONG line to see him :)
Once we'd seen everything we ate scones and listened to a childrens choir sing Christmas songs for a bit.
We had so much fun!!! It was a great night :)
