The Nutcracker

This is our Advent Calendar.

Every year I fill the doors with small toys, stickers, coins, hershey kisses and the occasional note - but not until the night before!  The kids take turns opening doors. Tessa gets the odd days, Asher gets the even days.
This year day one was filled with a note, wrapped around a kiss.  The note said "The Nutcracker * Saturday, 2:00.

Tessa was so excited :)

Matt and I took her to see The Utah Artists School of Ballet production of The Nutcracker at Juan Diego High School on Saturday, December 5.
She loved it!

The show came after a week of Matt being out of town, so I was low on sleep...I took a (discreet!) 5 minute power nap during the 2nd scene and was fine after that.
Tessa watched closely the whole time, though - eyes on the stage and the program in her hands.
I was actually a little surprised at how much she loved it, I was afraid she'd get bored without dialog, but she did great!

It was really fun - a great show for kids, slightly shorter than most productions and with a well timed intermission.  The scenery was still beautiful though, as was the dancing.  I think we'll continue to see this production for a few more years before we graduate to the Ballet West one.

Excuse the poor photo quality! My camera hates the dark :(

fun!!
Kilynn and I see the local Nutcracker production every year since she was 2.5-3 years old. She's always been memorized by it. Someday we'll go see the big one in Seattle.
