We are participating in our local library's Summer reading program this year. They even have a program for adults - which I thought was a little silly - until I found out you get a free book when you complete it. Hooray for free books!
The first week we went to the library I let Tessa choose 8 books. She finished them off the next afternoon.
The second week I let her pick 12 books - that took her almost 3 days to finish.
The next week she picked out 14, which took her 4 days to finish.
Last time she picked 17 books out. It's been just under a week, and she's just about to start the last one! Looks like we found a good number - yay!
I'm keeping a list of the books she's read over the Summer - for no reason other than my obsessive need to make lists. It's impressive. Most of her books are right around 100 pages long.
I love that she loves to read. I love that she's learning and that she enjoys it. Mostly, I love that it keeps her busy and quiet. Library day is the best day of the week. She sits down in her room (on her beloved bean bag chair) and reads for hours at a time. I give her a glass of water and a few crackers for a snack and it's like she's not even here.

What a sweet girl! My kids love library day too, but maybe all six together read 10 books a week. Keep it up Tessa.
