We had a great Thanksgiving this year :)
We hosted Matt's family at our house this year. Mike and Lisa were in Georgia, of course, and poor James had a migraine and wasn't able to make it, but Jesse, Sandy, Jessica, Ryan and L'Jean were all here.
Matt and I cooked all day. For 2 days, actually!
I'm sure it's mostly because my blood, sweat and tears (not literally!) went into it, but it was the BEST Thanksgiving dinner I've ever eaten in my life.
We made Turkey - which we brined for 24 hours before hand.
Two kinds of dressing/stuffing (corn bread with sausage and a sourdough one that was a.maz.ing)
Mashed potatoes, Sweet potato pie, rolls from scratch, homemade cranberry sauce and the best gravy I've ever tasted.
For dessert I made a pumpkin cake and a pumpkin cheesecake - plus we had a caramel apple pie, which was purchased from Target. I tried a sample while I was grocery shopping earlier in the week and it was so good that we included it in our dessert spread. It was the only thing that wasn't homemade from scratch :)
Our turkey was so moist and delicious. The stuffing was heavenly, the mashed potatoes were to die for. Everything was fantastic.
Sandy and Jesse brought spiral cut ham and brussel sprouts. Jessica brought the green bean bake - different from the Campbells soup recipe and SO much better!
We had SO much food!!!
After dinner we laid around - watching football and digesting for a while. Later we played Yahtzee - and Tessa showed some crazy skills! I think she had 3 yahtzee's in the first game - plus she rolled one for her grandma!
Jessica and L'Jean stuck around to play guitar hero for a bit before we called it a night.
To top it all off, the Bronco's had a huge win over the Giants that evening :)
I hope everyone else had a great Thanksgiving, too!!!
