It feels like our whole mountain is torn up with road work right now.
It started something like 6 weeks ago. First they tore up the big road driving up the mountain to our house. Then they started in the neighborhoods.
The city went around painting orange lines on all the pieces of pavement that they wanted ripped out and replaced. I think it was random, though, because I couldn't see anything wrong with 90% of the orange striped pieces of sidewalk or gutter.
One was right in front of our house - our street was the first to be worked on.
Asher was in heaven watching the cement trucks and tractors drive through the neighborhood. I thought he was going to pass out from pleasure the day they actually poured our driveway approach.
(I was pretty happy, too - nothing like being caged in your own home to give you a good case of claustrophobia!)
There is still plenty of road work going on in our neighborhood, in fact, they've recently come BACK to our street. Not sure what that means.
Asher's big obsession right now, though, is the heavy-duty road work that's happening on the mountain. The city is ripping up a portion of the road to build a tunnel underneath for hikers (sounds like a budget surplus to me!) and there have been some seriously cool vehicles on site. Giant dump trucks, tractors, backhoes and even a massive crane. He says the funniest things when we drive by!
This week on Monday we went out. Asher said "What if I was the size of daddy? I could work on that road and drive that truck. Wouldn't that be awesome?!"
On Tuesday we also went out. Asher said "Oh, mom! Remember when I said what if I was the size of daddy? If I was then I could drive that truck and daddy could drive that truck and you could stay home. And when we came home we would change our clothes before dinner"
I just laughed and laughed - isn't that the cutest thing ever? Matt says Ash is bound to drive a big truck!
