So, Matt ended up coming home again yesterday. He left the house super early to make up a lab he had missed, went to work after, and then was home again by 9:30, laying on the couch and spending half the day in the bathroom. Poor guy!
He said he felt better and went to work this morning. I hope it sticks this time! I've never seen him so sick - I can't remember a time he missed more than one afternoon of work from not feeling well - this is a record.
Asher's doing well - for now! It's been over 48 hours since his last vomiting episode...I'm feeding him the blandest foods I can find and not forcing him to finish anything.
He's still clingy and a bit ornery, but doing pretty well.
I did some internet research yesterday (is there any other kind?) and found out that Gastroenteritis can last 10 days (http://www.medicinenet.com/gastroenteritis/article.htm)
Today is 10 days since Asher first got sick, and 7 or 8 days since Matt got sick. So we've GOT to be done with it, right???
We can't take much more!
Here's that comforter drama that I promised...
After Asher threw up on my bedspread, I tried to wash it in my front loader washing machine. It's an extra large capacity, so I thought we'd try it. I had to do some serious shoving to get it in, but I tried to be gentle. It didn't wash well - much of the bedspread didn't even get saturated with water. Not surprising, the thing was gigantic. So I took it out and planned to take it to a laundromat. Matt nixed that idea - he didn't feel well enough to go. Instead, jammed it in again (not so gently) and ripped the rubber gasket that creates the seal between the tub and the door. (which we didn't realize until running another load of wash through and finding a lake of water on the laundry room floor.)
On top of that, the washing machine ripped the comforter in two places!
So, I had to buy a $150 part for my washing machine because of this illness AND a new bedspread!
Normally I jump at the opportunity to shop for new home furnishings, but I really loved this bedspread, not to mention that it was really expensive. I bought it before we moved in and kept it packaged until I could create my new bedroom. When we'd had it for about a year Indy jumped on it with muddy feet. I had it dry cleaned, but that made it worse. So I actually bought the same comforter again - in order to have a clean, pretty one. The only good thing about buying it twice was that the second time it was on sale - they were clearing it out.
This time I didn't have the opportunity to buy it again - it's all gone :(
But I found something I think I like a lot. Once I get it all put together I'll post pictures of the before and after.
Okay - promise that next post will be more interesting. I know sick is boring...unfortunately, it's all we've got here, lately.
