Colby

Today (March 12) is my adorable brother-in-law's Birthday.
Happy Birthday, Colby!

Colby and Becki are expecting their first baby right now.  They'll find out on Monday what kind it will be.  I'm predicting a boy...though I secretly want a girl...
Anyway, I'm feeling very affectionate towards Colby lately.  First, for knocking my sister up.  Second, for putting up with her crazy pregnant personality.
Oh - she's not that bad.  Not as bad as I was, to be sure.  But there's no way to get through pregnancy without being bitten by the crazy bug.  Becki cried when the Daytona 500 was ended under caution.  That's pregnant-crazy.

Back to Colby.
He's adorable.
  • He's very smart - beaten out only by Matt, who is a genius (yes, I'm biased because he's my husband, but that doesn't mean he's not a genius.)
  • He graduated with a double major from the University of Utah a few years ago - Computer Engineering and Computer Science.  Or, if that's not exactly it, it's close.
  • He has a fantastic work ethic.
  • He's super practical.
  • He likes guns - has quite the collection!  He's Mr. Gun Safety, has taken lots of cool classes and has a concealed carry permit.
  • He hunts and fishes and is very outdoorsy.  He gave me halibut from Alaska this year.  It was delicious. Becki wasn't thrilled for him to go all the way to Alaska to fish, but I told her the halibut was worth it.
  • He's funny - in a cool, sarcastic way...most of the time.  Sometimes, he's funny like this:
  • He has dimples - but he's aware of them, and he hides them.
  • He is a good Boy Scout - always prepared!
Asher would NOT ride his new bike on Christmas until the ribbons had been removed - Colby and his pocket knife came to the rescue!

Transcript of my text conversation with Colby today:
Me: Happy Birthday!
Colby: Thanks! You're up next.  Muwahahahahaha.
Me. That's right, and you have to come to another Murder Mystery party!  Muwahahahahaha.
Colby: Touche.

Colby pretends not to like my over-the-top theme parties, but I think he secretly loves them. Especially when they involve a Murder Mystery.
Okay, maybe he doesn't love them - but he definitely likes them.
Does this look like the face of someone who isn't enjoying himself?  No.
Colby dressed up as a 1920's detective at the last Murdery Mystery party.

Colby is sweet.  I don't know if he knows that he's sweet, but he is.  He's got such a kind heart.  I know I could ask him for help with anything and he'd do whatever he could.  I know that he takes excellent care of my sister, and he will take excellent care of my niece or nephew.
Happy Birthday, Colby!!!

He does secretly love the parties! I was barely allowed to shop for his shirt for the next party. He bought everything else on his own like a week in advance!
