2nd Grade.
Is that possible? I have a 2nd grader?
I'm proud to announce that for the first time, I didn't cry!
I did, however, wander around aimlessly all day. It feels so strange not to have her home. I didn't quite know what to do with myself. Asher was out of sorts, too. Luckily, Monday was only a half day. The school is easing us (parents) in, I think.
Tess was SO EXCITED for school that she barely slept the night before. When I opened her door to wake her up in the morning she popped out of bed and said "I'm already awake!"
She asked for a small thermos to take "leftover chili and soup and stuff" (her words) to school for lunch this year. Then she asked to have chili for dinner on Sunday night so she could take leftovers on Monday.
We obliged, of course, and she was thrilled. I never would have thought that chili in a thermos could make a 7 year old girl so happy. Her friend, Grace, also brought chili in a thermos for lunch which made the whole thing even better. They both took chili again on Tuesday. Tessa was ecstatic.
BTW - does anyone know how to get chili stains out of white polo shirts? Because it looks like this is something I'm going to need to know...
Tessa wears a uniform to school - Navy pants, shorts, capris or skorts with a white collared shirt. In Kindergarten I took a picture of her every day of her first week, because I wanted to get all the uniform combinations. We did the same thing last year, and now it's a tradition.
On Friday I'll post pictures from the whole week :)
In the meantime, here she is on the first day. I swear she posed herself that way.
