Happy Birthday, Asher!!!

My baby is three.
Three!

And he's so not a baby. He's so big I can hardly believe it.

Saturday, August 1 (yesterday) was Asher's 3rd Birthday. We had a party all planned for him, but ended up postponing it a week because of Mommy's dental drama. Luckily, Ash didn't seem to mind. We felt bad about putting his party off, though, and tried to fill his day with favorites.

He asked for "tiny pancakes" for breakfast, which he eats without syrup and not at the table. He just holds them in his hands and chows down on them as he plays. Asher is always on the go and tries not to sit still any longer than absolutely necessary! After breakfast he and Tessa went out back to play until it got too warm, then he came inside to open presents.
We gave him 3 Cars Mega Block sets - each had a character from the movie cars and a sort of "home" for them. The sets combine 2 of Asher's favorite toys - cars and legos - and were a big hit! We saved a couple of gifts for the party, too.

L'Jean, Papa, Becki, Nana and Grandpa all called to wish Asher a Happy Birthday, and he loved talking on the phone. At one point Daddy got a call about work and Asher was sure the phone was for him - he was pretty upset not to get to talk!

For dinner he asked for Salmon, but he was dissapointed to find it served with mashed potatoes instead of rice (his favorite food ever!) so we had to dig some leftover rice out of the fridge for him.

After dinner we went back outside and filled up some water balloons - Asher's favorite thing. When the kids had popped every balloon they had "green ice cream cones" - another Asher favorite (mint chocolate chip ice cream, obviously) for dessert. Then we all came in and changed into jammies and watched some cartoons before bed.

For now I'm leaving out the sappy, sentimental part of the Birthday post...I started trying to write something, but my brain is still strangely foggy from all the tooth stuff this week. I'm having a hard time focusing and I want to wait until I can put together something that makes sense. I figure there's plenty of time - after all, his party's not for a week!
Happy Birthday, big boy! Love you!!!
