Our Little Devils

Tessa and Asher were Devils this year for Halloween - Tessa's choice. And they were SO cute!!!

After sewing Matt's pirate costume I was totally worn out, so I asked my mom to make Tessa's dress. She did a much better job than I would have, and I was able to concentrate on the accessories, which are my favorite, anyway!
I made her a tail, a hairbow, a wide sash to go around her waist and a fluffy tule skirt to go under the dress. All that was easy compared to the last thing...
Tess wanted red fishnet tights.
She didn't know what they were called, but she got her point across well enough when she said she wanted red net on her legs.
You can't buy red fishnet tights for a 6 year old. Honestly, I think that's a good thing - but it did make her costume a bit more difficult.
We ended up buying adult tights, shortening the legs with a serger and pulling the waist band up around her armpits to make them work - but they really made the costume, I think.
For Asher I made a one piece jammie type outfit, a hood with horns and a cape - my favorite part of the costume.

(I should have made him take his binky out - but I didn't even think about it. He only gets to have it at home, now - so we are making progress!)

Tessa was gorgeous, as usual. Matt made the comment that he's absolutely terrified for her to be 14 or 15... LOL

Once again, I failed to get any great pictures! By the time we were leaving the house to go trick or treating it was begining to rain, which added to the already sky-high level of excitement. Something about being out in the elements just winds my kids up. Rain, snow, even wind - they go nuts.

Anyway, getting them both to look at me at the same time was impossible. Plus, we were in a hurry to go!!!

Before we went trick or treating we finally carved pumpkins.

Tessa wanted Daddy to work with her, and she chose the big, round pumpkin, so Asher and I did the tall skinny one. Tess was totally grossed out by the pumpkin guts and pretty much refused to touch it, though she did hold her hand inside the pumpkin for a photo op. She drew the face she wanted on a piece of paper, though, and daddy carved it for her.

Ash was a true boy and had no problem with pumpkin guts.

Matt and I consider ourselves to be two of the worst pumpkin carvers of all time - these are the best we've ever done, I think.
